Gerry Robinson

Gerry spent twenty-one years with Telstra, commencing in engineering as an apprentice and progressing through positions in personnel, accounting, industrial relations, organisation design, finance and business analysis.  During this period he obtained an economics degree and qualified as an Associate with the Australian Society of CPAs.  In 1990 he joined Price Waterhouse as a senior consultant, where he project managed the regional restructure of a major water authority and conducted a business efficiency review for a Federal Minister.  He led a team of Defence Department Officers to develop a cost benefit analysis for a computer system for Defence Air Fleet maintenance.
From 1992 he was Manager Major Projects for Sedgwick, leading a team advising NSW Health on OH&S and waste management. This involved audits and training in 90 public hospitals. He conducted many strategic risk reviews including the State Bank of South Australia, ANU, a number of large manufacturers and retailers and the New South Wales Department of Schools and Education and also the Department of Housing.

In 1994, Gerry joined Alexander & Alexander, (later Aon) as General Manager Consulting. He conducted over fifty risk reviews including Pacific Brands, the Reserve Bank, Origin Energy, Fairfax, Repco, Curtin University in Hayman Island Resort.  He also reviewed business interruption risk exposures for the National Rail Authority and Western Power.  In 1996 he acted as Risk Manager of the Sydney Olympics and attended the Atlanta Games as a member of the SOCOG delegation. In 2004, he assisted the Beijing Olympic Committee to develop their initial risk strategy for submission to the IOC.  He developed and implemented electronic compliance solutions for major companies such as the Gandel Group.

In 2005, Gerry created RiskThinkers Pty Ltd, offering basic and advanced risk management training.  He published two books on risk management, The RiskThinkers Guide (2006) and The Australian Risk Roundtable (2008).  From March 2009 he has continued his professional career with RiskTech with afocus on risk reviews for the education sector.
