Karen began her risk management career as an occupational health nurse for Tegal Turkeys' further processing division, a division of the Inghams Group. In 1989 Karen took on a role with Tip Top Bakeries as the state OHS Co-ordinator for NSW and ACT which involved the management of OH&S, Workers' Compensation and rehabilitation across nine sites.
Karen has completed a Graduate Diploma in OHS Management at UTS University and other short term qualifications including train the trainer, rehabilitation co-ordinator and machine guarding strategies.
In 1993 Karen transferred to a national OHS Co-ordinator role within the George Weston Foods Group. This role also involved the management of a government grant for improvements in manual handling in the bread industry.
In 1995 Karen took on her first consulting role for Aon Risk Services Australia as a member of the national risk management team providing advice to a broad range of national and international clients with particular emphasis around manufacturing, transport, health services and construction. This role also included a 12 month secondment to SOCOG to develop and implement a risk management programme for the broadcasting arm of the games.
In 2002 Karen joined RiskTech as an Executive Consultant looking after the People @ Risk area of the business. During this time Karen has provided services to a large range of clients in the area of OH&S, public safety and event management.
