The foundations for Michael’s career were laid down with Sun Alliance Insurance where he was provided with grounding in property underwriting and reinsurance. In 1978, Michael was transferred to the Risk Surveying team where he worked for 3 years surveying the property insurance portfolio in NSW. In 1980, Michael joined Willis Faber Johnson and Higgins as a Risk Control Consultant working on their National and Global accounts (inwards and outwards).
In 1983 he relocated to Brisbane to set up a risk control division for Willis in Queensland. In 1983, Michael undertook further training and work experience in the United Kingdom and U.S.A. Michael joined Alexander Stenhouse in 1986 and continued his career, providing risk control consulting as well as developing innovative solutions as risk management discipline evolved in Australia. Michael assumed various State and National Management roles within the risk management consulting arm of what had become Aon.
At the end of 2000, Michael left Aon and established RiskTech Pty Limited, an independent risk consulting firm. Michael is the Managing Director. RiskTech provides Business and Operational risk consulting services to a broad range of clients. He has gained a broad base of experience through his involvement with a wide variety of industries, providing risk control advice to global, national and private companies in respect of their strategic and operational risk exposures. Michael has provided risk management consulting throughout Australia and New Zealand as well as the United Kingdom, South East Asia, the Caribbean, and the South Pacific Islands.
Michael has developed and project managed integrated risk management programmes and risk management audit tools for major National and International clients. He is very experienced in facilitating strategic and operational risk review workshops having conducted business risk assessments for a broad range of private, publicly listed and government entities.
